What is Banglai Cloud IMS?

Banglai Cloud IMS is a global, multi-tenant Inventory Management System. It serves everyone from a single-store retail shop in Bangladesh to enterprise supermarket chains in the USA. The core engine is an event-sourced stock ledger with dual-lens valuation (FIFO, Weighted Average, LIFO), regional tax compliance (NBR Mushak, UAE VAT, US GAAP), a landed cost engine, offline-first POS, and MBA-level analytics including EOQ, Safety Stock, DSI, CCC, GMROI, and ABC/FSN classification.

How does the IMS handle different business sizes?

The system uses Progressive Disclosure. During onboarding, you select your region (USA, UAE, Bangladesh, Global), business scale (Micro, SME, Enterprise), and industry (Retail, Wholesale, Manufacturing). The UI and features dynamically scale: a micro retail shop gets a simple POS with basic stock tracking, while an enterprise gets multi-warehouse routing, LIFO valuation, advanced forecasting dashboards, and dedicated infrastructure.

Does the IMS work offline?

Yes. The POS frontend uses a local database (WatermelonDB/SQLite) to continue processing sales offline. When connectivity returns, a sync engine pushes offline events to the cloud using Last-Write-Wins with field-level merging. Stock counts sync as deltas (sum-merge), not absolute overwrites, preventing data loss.

What valuation methods are supported?

The system supports FIFO (First-In-First-Out), Weighted Average, and LIFO (Last-In-First-Out). FIFO and Weighted Average comply with IAS 2 (used in Bangladesh and UAE). LIFO is US GAAP only and is gated to Enterprise tenants in the USA region. The database records physical movement separately from financial valuation (dual-lens), so you can switch methods without re-entering data.

Does the IMS support manufacturing?

Yes. The system includes Bills of Materials (BOM), work orders with multi-stage operations, cost variance tracking (actual vs standard cost), and two specialized stock event types (production_consume and production_output) that integrate manufacturing into the same event-sourced ledger as retail and wholesale.

What MBA-level analytics are included?

For SME and Enterprise tiers, the system computes Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), dynamic Safety Stock (with lead time variance), Days Sales of Inventory (DSI), Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC), Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI), and automated ABC (value-based) and FSN (velocity-based) inventory classification. All formulas are in auditable Python code with unit tests.

How is tenant data isolated?

The system uses a hybrid tenancy model. Micro and SME tenants share a PostgreSQL cluster with Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring absolute data isolation. Enterprise tenants get a dedicated database or schema with the same schema, providing stronger isolation for SOC2 compliance.

What tax compliance is supported?

Regional tax is handled via an in-process strategy pattern (not a microservice, to avoid network latency on every sale). Bangladesh: NBR Mushak VAT (15% standard, 7.5% reduced, 0% zero-rated). UAE: Federal Tax Authority VAT (5% standard). USA: sales tax by jurisdiction (Avalara integration available for Enterprise). Global: configurable per tenant.
